The
Misty Fjords National Monument is 2.3 million acres of blinding
beauty that everyone who comes to S.E. Alaska should see. The
four following tours involve flights in the Misty
Fjords .
On
all our tours Our personable driver will pick you up at the
cruise ship
dock or your
hotel and bring you to our dock and deliver you back
at the end of your tour.
Misty
Fjords Tour
What can we say about the Misty Fjords? I've
done hundreds, maybe thousands of Misty flights and each one
of them has been a different experience that you never tire
of. It's beautiful in full bright sunlight and, well, when it's
really misty and at all the stages in between. Hundreds of waterfalls,
shear granite cliffs, trees growing everywhere, even out of
shear rock. A wonderland formed through the millennium out of
fire (volcanoes) and ice (glaciers), where you will see wondrous
scenery and have a chance to see eagles, bears, deer, wolves,
mountain goats, seals or maybe even whales. Perhaps that why
this is our most popular flight.
This
flight starts in Ketchikan and flies 15-20 minutes through the
Tongass National Forest to The Misty Fjords National Monument.
This tour lasts for 2 hours (our dock to dock, not cruise
ship pickup to cruise ship dock, like most other's tours)
and includes flightseeing through the Monument and a shore stop
for 30 minutes on a wilderness Fjord. Your pilot, Dave
will talk with you throughout the flight and make up
answers answer any questions you may have.

Short
Misty Fjords Tour
Same great scenery, just not so much of it and
no landing. Tour lasts 45 min.

Glacier/Fjords
Tour
As you fly further North into the Misty Fjords
the terrain becomes even steeper, the elevation higher and
you come to an area dominated by glaciers. Everything we said
about above tour applies to this tour with the added feature
of the glaciers. So, in this tour you get to see the Misty
Fjords on the way to and from a flight over and around the
glaciers.
This
tour last approximately 2.5 hours
and includes flightseeing through the Monument and a water
landing, with a chance to get out on the shore at one of the
lakes or a Fjord in the Monument.
The
weather is highly changeable in SE Alaska. In the event that
the weather deteriorates and you are unable to view the glaciers
this tour will revert to a Misty Fjords Tour and will be billed
at the Misty Fjord rate.

Mini
Fishing Tour
For
those of you who would like to go fishing in Alaska
but
don't have time for a full blown trip. This tour involves a
plane ride through beautiful vistas to a seldom fished lake
or stream with hungry trout or grayling. Flying portion is up
to one hour with at least one hour fishing. We
provide a guide, transportation, equipment, and
license. Total
tour time is two hours our dock-to-dock.
