The most practical way to do so
is to use one of the cabins provided by the US Forest Service.
The U.S.Forest Service has built
many cabins
in the Tongass National Forest and The Misty Fjords National
Monument. They rent these cabins to the public for $25.00 -
$45.00 daily. In the case of the lake cabins the only way to
get to them is by air as they are remote and otherwise inaccessible.
Don't want to lug lots of camping
gear through the airport? Our friends at Alaska
Wilderness Outfitters rent a full contingent of gear for
reasonable prices and he'll deliver the gear to us so it's waiting
for you when you get here, he also has outboard motors that
fit the boats at the cabins.
We have a lot of experience taking
people to these cabins so if you need some advice as to types
of fishing, scenery, type of cabin, trails, etc., please give
us a call or e-mail us, we'd love to talk with you.

Below is a table which shows some
of the more popular cabins and our charter rate to get you to
the cabin and back to Ketchikan. We fly a Cessna 185 on floats.
You and your baggage may not exceed 800 lbs per trip. This is
normally adequate for two people and enough gear to stay up
to one week. This price does not include the rental of the cabin,
you need to get in touch with ReserveAmerica
for rentals.
"Just
wanted to drop a line in and say hello and to let you know
what a wonderful experience we had flying into those 2 cabins
with you. Thanks for putting up with all of our gear and letting
Hayden (our dog) tag along.
We will be back for another trip to McDonald Lake and somewhere
else new and special!"
